A contained landscape, where the experience of the garden unfolds gently with time.

The design centres on calm and restoration. A restrained material palette grounds the space, layered planting introduces texture, movement and seasonal change.

The house itself acts as a cloak, wrapping the landscape inward and holding it apart from the surrounding streets. The architecture presents as monolithic and composed. A strong, deliberate form. The instinct in such circumstances might be to soften the building entirely, cloaking it in planting or allowing the garden to compete with its presence.

Instead, the landscape adopts a restrained posture. Along the exterior edges of the building, planting remains minimal. Only brief moments of green appear at openings, offering a quiet suggestion of the garden concealed within.

Passing through the architecture reveals the true landscape. The garden unfolds through a series of intimate outdoor rooms. Courtyards, terraces and planted thresholds extend the interior life of the house, allowing the landscape to be experienced slowly through the day. Light moves across leaves and stone. Shade settles beneath the canopy. The city fades into the background.

Within this framework the garden is allowed a degree of unpredictability. Light arrives differently each day. Leaves shift and reposition. Growth moves in quiet, irregular ways that resist strict control.
